World Series game delayed for first time ever

Monday night's World Series game 5 is the first game in over 120 World Series' played, where a game has been suspended due to the elements. The awful weather in Philadelphia played havoc with the field and caused the grounds crew to spread drying agent on the infield between innings and during pitching changes.
The game will pick up Tuesday night in the bottom of the 6th inning. Major League Baseball rules state that if 4 1/2 innings are played in a World Series game, that is enough time to make it official. The Philadelphia Phillies had a 2-1 lead after 4 1/2 and the rain was making the field unplayable. Major League Baseball and commissioner Bud Selig avoided another black eye for baseball when the Tampa Bay Rays scored a run in the top of the 6th to tie the game. Outstanding centerfielder B.J. Upton singled off Cole Hammels, and somehow managed to steal 2nd base on the sloppy, muddy Citizens Bank Ballpark infield. Carlos Pena got his 2nd base hit of the Series and Upton slip home safely to tie the game at 2.
Had that run not scored, the World Series would have ended with the Philadelphia Phillies as World Champions.
The weather for Tuesday looks even worse than it did on Monday with rain forecast all throughout the area. Game 5 is scheduled to resume Tuesday night at 8:00 pm ET (weather permitting).
We can hold off on the Philadelphia Phillies World Champions merchandse that will be available at http://www.khcsports.com/ for at least one moe day.

Pittsburgh Steelers Throwback Helmets

Have you been noticing the new yellow football helmets that the Pittsburgh Steelers have been wearing in some of their games this year? These are "Throwback Helmets" from the 1962 NFL Season. The NFL allows teams to wear uniforms that are not their current colors and logos in 4 home games, and 2 away games per year, as a break from their traditional "Black and Gold uniforms, the Pittsburgh Steelers are celebrating their proud past with this style of throwback uniform.
The Steelers entered the league in 1933, and suffered through many losing seasons. They never won anything, until 1972 when they finally won the AFC Central and started one of the greatest dynasties in sports. The Steelers were the team of the seventies in the NFL, winning their division 10 consecutive years, and winning the Super Bowl 4 times. They became the first team to win back to back Super Bowls, and they did it twice in the 70's.
You can own one of these collectible throwback Steelers helmets. http://www.profootballstuff.com/ carries a huge selection of Pittsburgh Steelers merchandise, NFL helmets, and Riddell throwback helmets. There are 3 main types of helmets sold ~ NFL mini helmets, NFL full size replica helmets, and the authentic NFL Pro Line helmets.
The Steelers mini throwback helmets are $21.89, the full size replica Steelers throwback helmets run $98.49, and the collectors item NFL authentic Pro Line Steelers throwback helmet will set you back $206.49. There are several sites on the internet selling these helmets, but I have found the lowest prices at http://www.profootballstuff.com/

Boise State keeps BCS hopes alive

The Boise State Broncos defeated the San Jose State Spartans 33-16 Friday night in Spartan Stadium in San Jose CA.

Kellen Moore lead the charge with 244 yards passing and 2 touchdowns and Jeremy Avery rushed for 96 yards, as Boise St. broke open a relatively close game in the 4th quarter.

With several top ranked BCS teams to play Saturday, and matchups between teams ranked ahead of Boise still to come later in the season, this was one of the last road blocks standing in the way of Boise to head back in a BCS Bowl Game.
Here are a couple of great BSU items for the die hard Bronco's fan. This is a great BSU stadium blanket, and check out a cool Boise State money clip/credit card holder. These items and much much more available at http://www.khcsports.com/

Rays Even Series at 1-1

The Tampa Bay Rays evened the World Series at a game a piece Thursday night behind the pithing of James Shields and David Price.
B.J. Upton, Carlos Pena, and Evan Longoria came through in game 2 after going a combined 0-12 in game 1. Each had an RBI which proved to be enough to beat the Philles, the final score was 4-2 as we head to Philadelphia for game 3 Saturday night. The pitching matchup for game 3 pits ALCS MVP Matt Garza against 45 year old Jamie Moyer.

Why not grab some MLB Baseball gear to sow support for which ever team you are rooting for this October. Some cool ideas are MLB grill covers to keep your BBQ away from the elements this winter, or maybe a baseball team license plate frame to show everyone out on the road who your team is, and don't forget to get your 2009 team calendars before they are sold out!

Hamels and Utley push Phils to 1-0 series lead

Chase Utley hit a 2 run homer in the top of the first inning, and Cole Hamels pitched seven strong innings allowing only 2 runs, and Brad Lidge stayed perfect in save opportunities this year as the Philadelphia Phillies won 3-2. Carl Crawford of the Tampa Bay Rays hit a 2 run bomb for Tampa's only runs, but the clutch hitting of B.J. Upton and Evan Longoria was silenced as both went a combined 0-8.

Click HERE for the full box score of game 1.

Game 2 is set for tonight in Tampa's Tropicana Field again as Brett Myers faces off against James Shields.

In World Series history, the team that wins game one has won the series 63 of 103 times, including 10 of the last 11, but the team with home field advantage, has won 18 of the last 22.
Be sure to check us out for Sports Merchandise, and World Series Memorabilia.

Tampa Bay Rays 2008 ALCS Champs

Congrats to the cinderella Tampa Bay Rays! They made an epic journey from one of the worst teams in all of sports, to a huge turnaround to the World Series. They won a classic game 7 last Sunday night against the defending world champion Boston Red Sox. Thanks to huge pitching performances from David Price and Matt Garza, and clutch hitting from B.J. Upton and Evan Longoria, not to mention the supreme leadership of manager Joe Maddon.

There is a great collectible tapestry commemorating the Rays season. I found this on several websites Monday afternoon, the lowest price being www.khcsports.com
Best of luck to the Rays against th National League Champion Philadelphia Phillies. World Series game 1 starts Wednesday night at 8 PM Eastern time from Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg Florida.
